Ana de Armas trended on Twitter following reports that she and boyfriend Ben Affleck split up, effectively ending the tabloid-adored relationship.
Ana de Armas began trending on Twitter following reports of a break-up between her and Ben Affleck. The 32-year-old Cuban actress got her start in Hollywood with supporting roles in big-budget films like 2016’s War Dogs and 2017’s Blade Runner 2049. It wasn’t until her breakthrough performance in Rian Johnson’s acclaimed murder-mystery Knives Out that de Armas became one of the most sought-after performers in the industry. Her slate of upcoming movies remains incredibly impressive, with starring turns as a Bond girl in No Time to Die and Marilyn Monroe in the Netflix biopic Blonde.
Another high-profile film on the docket is Deep Water, an erotic thriller directed by Adrian Lyne in which de Armas stars alongside Ben Affleck. The two met on the set of the film in late 2019, and tabloid rumors of an on-set romance quickly circulated in March 2020 when pictures surfaced of the two intimately spending time together and vacationing to Cuba and Costa Rica. Now, it appears the couple has split, and the fresh news has taken the Internet by storm.Continue scrolling to keep reading

Ana de Armas started trending on Twitter on January 18 after reports surfaced that she and Ben Affleck have officially split after nearly a year. A source told People that de Armas was allegedly the one who broke it off, with the primary reason being that she doesn’t want to be based in Los Angeles, where Affleck lives with his three children. However, the source said their split was mutual and out of respect for where they are in their lives.
While de Armas’s attention is relatively new, Affleck’s love life has always been a consistent source of fascination. This tabloid notoriety peaked when he became engaged to Jennifer Lopez in the early 2000s, a time for Affleck that included several poorly received films like Gigli, which he starred in alongside Lopez. His subsequent marriage to Jennifer Garner, combined with his troubled run as Batman and a turbulent personal life involving substance abuse, has unfortunately kept the media spotlight on him throughout his entire career.
Their personal lives aside, Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck’s careers are going about as well as they can be right now. Affleck received some of the highest praise of his career for his performance in The Way Back, and de Armas may very well be an Oscar contender for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in Blonde. While this is a difficult time for them, hopefully, the overwhelming press coverage doesn’t interfere with the strong creative choices they’ll likely continue to make in the future.
