One of Prince Harry‘s friends, journalist Tom Bradby, claimed that the Duke of Sussex is “heartbroken” of the events that led to him and his wife Meghan distance themselves from the royal family last year.
Tom grew close to the Sussexes when he was filming the documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey when the couple toured South Africa in 2019, which he described as an “emotionally complex project.”

In an interview that airs in Britain on Sunday, he said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were “clearly in a difficult position and weren’t feeling great”, with the extent of their turmoil becoming clearer to him the longer he spent time with them.
Now that they are settled in California with their son Archie, Tom says he thinks they are doing better and are “content”, as well as excited about various projects they have in the pipeline.
But he went on to say that he believes Harry “is heartbroken by the situation with his family.”
He added, “The situation with the family clearly isn’t ideal and it has been a very difficult year for them all…I think they wrestle with their position in life, I think they all do. I think William does too, I don’t think he finds it easy.”

Their surprising decision, he said, is a completely unprecedented situation and therefore it will take some time to fully resolve itself.
“It is painful all round, painful for everyone, difficult to manage. Effectively they have just decided to completely leave the royal family, that has never been done—I mean, you could go back to the Duke of Windsor but that was in very different circumstances.

“It’s never been done voluntarily before and no one still is absolutely clear how it is going to work,” he said, “adding, “There are still a lot of hurt feelings on all sides.”
Famously, Tom was the interviewer who at one point in the documentary asked Meghan, “Are you okay?”
Meghan, who had given birth to Archie only months before and was struggling with the abuse she was receiving online, seemed to well up as she thanked Tom for asking that question. “Not many people have asked if I’m okay.”
Earlier this week it was reported that Harry and Meghan have quit social media for good.
