Universal Studios threw some serious shade in a recent tweet that appeared to be directed at Disney Parks.

That’s nice, right? Well, it might have been a subtweet to Disney Parks, which recently decided to end the Annual Passport program because of the pandemic.
Disneyland and the California Adventure theme parks said they will end the popular Annual Passport program due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The annual passport allows guests to visit Disneyland and California Adventure Park on specific days throughout the year. It also offered discounts for products, meals and shopping.
- Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock said in a letter released to passholders: “We plan to use this time while we remain closed to develop new membership offerings that will utilize consumer insights to deliver choice, flexibility and value for our biggest fans. Once we have more information to share about future membership offerings, our passholders will be the first to hear from us as we embark on this next chapter.”
The major shade comes as Disneyland remains closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The park closed back in March but never reopened as California officials held off issuing guidelines. The state released some guidelines for reopening, but those require lower COVID-19 case numbers from the counties rather than the parks themselves.
- Experts suggested Disneyland will have a difficult time meeting the requirements needed to reopen in the near future.
