In WandaVision episode 3, Herb (David Payton) was trying tell Vision (Paul Bettany) something that seemed important – what was it? Herb’s neighborly conversation with Vision and Agnes (Katherine Hahn) was related to Geraldine (Teyonah Parris) and her reason for being in Westview. On the surface, it seemed like a friendly conversation between neighbors about a newcomer to the town, but it clearly had undercurrents of a different message being conveyed.
Episode 3 of WandaVision plunged Scarlet Witch’s fake world into stranger territory by having Wanda experience an unorthodox pregnancy that ends in less than a day. None of the characters seem to notice how odd this is, but a new complication arises when Westview resident Geraldine earns an angry glare from Wanda after mentioning Quicksilver’s death at the hands of Ultron. This comment causes Wanda to figure out something is off about Geraldine – or more likely, that Geraldine has reminded her of the real life she was avoiding – and for this reason, Wanda expels Geraldine from the bubble of Westview’s alternate reality.Continue scrolling to keep reading

While Geraldine is talking to Wanda about Pietro (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Vision is busy outside with Herb and Agnes, who he’d interrupted in the middle of them having a hushed and private discussion. Vision learns they’re talking about Geraldine, who, according to them, is new to Westview and alone with no home. After Vision presses Herb about Geraldine, Herb starts to say, “She came here because we’re all…” but never gets further than that due to being cut off by Agnes. Vision never does find out what Herb is about to say, but it’s clear that it has something to do with the true nature of Westview. Whatever it is, Herb’s words to Vision suggest that some people in Westview may be developing some level of awareness that the reality they’re in is deeply wrong.
It’s already known that Geraldine is actually Monica Rambeau from SWORD, and that she’s not really a part of the fantasy alternate reality. It could be that when Wanda wasn’t around, she told some of the residents that Westview isn’t real. That could be what Herb was about to tell Vision. As for why he didn’t finish, it could be that Wanda’s full control over the town prevented him from getting the words out. So a word that may better line up with what Herb started to say is “trapped.” It may be that the people of Westview are, in fact, real; they were just transformed into different, fake versions of themselves by Scarlet Witch’s powers, and then thrust into the suburban fantasy.
Another part of the mystery is Agnes’ insistence on Herb not telling Vision about Geraldine. Her behavior implies she knows what’s going on, and may also know about the consequences of talking about it in the open. Agnes being more knowledgeable than the others does make sense, especially if the theories about her being the comic book version of Agatha Harkness, Scarlet Witch’s mentor, are true. If Agnes is Agatha Harkness, she’d have a deep understanding of magic and may know what Wanda is capable of. For now, she may not be ready to bring Vision in on what’s really happening, but the WandaVision trailer suggests it will come up soon, as she was seen breaking it to him that he’s actually dead.
